Traffic Fines in Vietnam - Motorbike Riding Violations

Below we have listed some of the penalties for violations while driving a motorcycles / mopeds / scooters in Vietnam. Penalties are subject to change without notice. Cases where three people are allowed on a motorcycle:

The motorcycle rider or moped driver is only allowed to carry one person, except in the following cases where a maximum of two people can be carried:

Transporting a sick person for emergency treatment;
Escorting a person who has violated the law;
Children under 12 years old;
Elderly or disabled individuals.

- The mandatory vehicle lighting period starts from January 1, 2025. The front headlights must be turned on from 6:00 PM the previous day to 6:00 AM the following day, or when there is fog, smoke, dust, rain, or adverse weather conditions that limit visibility.
